frontiphoneThe LinkUp IPhone app is getting rave reviews and record downloads. It has every conceiveable feature that you would want in an app for a job search engine. It’s probably be the best one available. People say.

Like,..suppose you are driving to a job interview and drive by a company headquarters, you can type in the company name and see immediately if they have openings. You will see the openings that are only on the company’s website, even if you do not know the right URL, and since most of the jobs on company websites are never advertised, you will have a ‘leg up’ on other applicants. LinkUp takes you right to the company websites, there’s no sign in, passwords, nothing.

You can save jobs, get alerts, find jobs within certain areas and much more. If you are a recruiter, for example, you could use the LINKUP IPhone app, and LINKUP itself by the way, to see the open positions….the ones the HR manager hasn’t told you about. Maybe you are a competitor of a certain company…what better way is there to see what they are up to, than by watching for any new hires. With LinkUp, it takes only a minute to recognize a new department, new product or new initiative.

But.

We are working on some un-believeable new enhancements and features to the app that might be of interest to you. In the future, we hope to include the following features in the LINKUP app. Ed. Note: These are un-believeable.

1. TIVO ability. We want to help job seekers not only find jobs but do a better job during the interview itself. With this new TIVO app, the candidate can re wind interviews, inserting better and more thoughtful answers.

2. SHAZAM, except for interviewers. Shazam is an Iphone app that recognizes music, anaylyzes it and sends you the name of the song and artist. Like that, our new LinkUp app will listen to the interviewer and report to you on how many other people have interviewed, and what the salary range is for the job, REALLY.

3. Future Jobs. With this new feature for the LinkUp app, fancy red pins will show up where future jobs are going to be forthcoming. People talk.

26942_Arbys_head4. The Arby’s Hat idea, but for HR. Remember that stoopid Arby’s TV commercial that showed the Arby’s hat showing up mysteriously on customers’ heads? We thought it would be helpful if job seekers could see where the HR hiring managers hang out, you know, at Starbucks, at the pool hall, whereever. So, we show HR managers with appropriate but invisible hats. This app would allow the job seeker to do some spare time networking by helping identifying the hiring manager while he shops at the grocery store.

5. Showing new apps to the HR manager. Every IPhone user loves to show new apps to other users. This app, when clicked, analyzes the apps on the hiring manager’s IPhone, and suggests new ones that he or she will absolutely LOVE. The candidate shows the new apps, thereby demonstrating an un-canny ability to know what appeals to the interviewer.

6. Phonetic names. Ever been in an interview situation where a key executive’s name is mentioned but you couldn’t remember it? This app records every name mentioned, stores it phoentically, and also finds emails, phone numbers and home addresses associated with it. Think how powerful it would be if you would happen to run into the executive, say, at their kid’s school during the school play. A powerful networking tool.

7. The motivator. Going on job interviews is hard work. You get nervous and may well appear tentative or at worst, lackluster with no energy. This app plays random motivational YouTube videos featuring Zig Ziglar, Warren Buffet, Steve Jobs and Seth Godin. Guaranteed to give you a fresh new bounce to your step right before the interview.

8. Post interview. You know by now, that a handwritten note after the interview is best, especially one that recounts what you and the inteviewer discusssed, specifically. This feature prepares the note for you as you are leaving the interview location, your note will appear on the hiring manager’s desk within one hour. Talk about being impressed!!

Ed. Note: While you are waiting for these new features, you really should try out the LINKUP current features on the site itself or on the new IPhone app.
