Just read where the average job seeker, the UN employed job seeker, spends less than 30 minutes per day actually looking for the next job. This concerns me because most of the job seekers I know and coach spend a lot more time at it. What do the “30-minute people” know that they don’t.
HOW TO SPEND JUST 30 MINUTES PER DAY JOB HUNTING
1. Randomly broadcast that same old resume out to any company with a valid HR email address.
2. Wait by the phone.
3. Browse through job boards looking for VP jobs, up three levels from current job.
4. Call one friend, ask if he has heard if any companies are hiring?
5. Think about starting own company.
6. Do research on the idea you came up when you thought about starting your own company. Appears others are doing it already, DARN.
7. Coffee.
8. Regis and Kelly. Watch.
9. Call cubemates who were laid off too. Bitch and moan.
10. Polish the resume up a little bit. Repeat tomorrow.
