It’s late in 2008, and I am not saying that you have to use the social media tools. Many don’t, preferring instead to use the traditional media–like the telex machine and rotary phones. Me? I have been a slow adopter myself…it was my grandfather, remember, who said ’sliced bread would never catch on because it would dry out too fast’…we Hoffmans, in other words, have seldom crossed the chasm first.
But if you are alive today, you just have to know about all the new social media tools, how they are used, when and where. And how you can best use them in your daily and business life. Which is why you should run, not walk, to lulu.com ( lulu ) to buy a new book being released today called Age of Conversation 2, which is a total exploration of social media and its impact on business. Its kicker text is: Why Don’t They Get it? and it is broken into eight main sections;
* Manifestos
* Keeping Secrets in the Age of Conversation
* Moving from Conversation to Action?
* The Accidental Marketer
* A New Brand of Creative
* My Marketing Tragedy
* Business Model Evolution
* Life in the Conversation Lane
It is a book of articles and essays (limited to 400 words each) by some of the world’s best users, social media experts and writers today; 237 in all, from 15 countries, each one concise, on point, relevant and insightful. 237 viewpoints on how you can better understand the social media phenomenon….all in one book. Brilliantly organized and edited by Gavin Heaton and Drew McClellan, all proceeds from the sale of this book will go to benefit Variety, the Children’s Charity.

There are some familiar names here for anyone who has followed your blog for awhile: Ellen Weber, Robert Hruzek, Robyn McMaster…some guy named G.L. Hoffman (they probably lost his first name somewhere). I’m probably missing a lot of the familiar names. I need to get a copy of this.
Do they have it available for Kindle? In its own way, that is becoming a social media tool. I’d love to see it available there. I’m not meaning to step on lulu saying that, though.
Thanks very much for the shout out to your readers about AOC2. As you know…this is collaboration to the core. Together, we’ll raise the $15K or not.
And…the readers get some really smart thinking and no doubt will see a wide range of perspectives to challenge their own thinking.
To answer Conrad — we’re exploring a Kindle version, so stay tuned.
Thanks again,
Drew
