I told someone once I was from Kansas and they asked, “Ah…Kansas. Did you live by the lake or by the tree?” If you have ever been to Kansas, you can appreciate that question.
So, any news about Kansas interests me. Which is why I noted with interest a new World Record for the time it takes to harvest 160 acres of Kansas wheat.
The record was set near Norton, Kansas, and 100 combines and countless grain trucks were used to set the record.
The record? Ten minutes and 15 seconds, to harvest the entire 160 acres.
(Proceeds of the crop were to be sent to a local kids’ camp.)

NOTE: Please read Duane’s comment. Evidently, this was NOT in Kansas but in Canada. Proving once again, you should not believe everything you find on the inter-web. Thanks, Duane.

Check out all the DEERE equipment being used–a quick tally would tell you there is more money on that one field than the GDP of a small country…
No kidding…
Except it isn’t Kansas and the record was something over 11 minutes…
It’s actually a photo of a fund-raising event in Winkler, Canada, in 2005.
It’s clearly not Kansas as the wheat has been windrowed rather than being harvested standing and the terrain isn’t that around Norton (surprisingly to most, it’s _too_ flat!)
There’s an article in the Hays, KS, newspaper at the following link

They have a YouTube Video depicting the event.
It happened in Winkler, Canada.
Here is the web address again. The last one is missing the “L” in “Html”
