Over at US News and World Report, I dropped off a column on how a boss should handle politics in the workplace. It is dicey issue and in these days of open transparency, I am sure some will disagree with my viewpoint of keeping your political leanings to yourself. Please jump over there when you have a moment and read it along with the other “outside career voices” like Curt Rosengren, MIchael Wade, Alison Green, Joel Cheeseman, Andrew GR, and Brandon Alsup, Brendan Henak

Actually, I have thought long and hard about the Big Race ‘08 this summer and felt that you, my loyal readers, should know where I stand on the most important decision some of us will make this year. Over at USNEWS, I did not come down on one side or the other…and certainly did NOT endorse one over the other. I wanted to be Switzerland over there, but here….I will tell you who I am for. Wait for it, wait for it.

I realize many of you have waited for this moment, this moment of pure analysis, completely fair, balanced, and thoughtful. I have made my pick mostly because of how I feel about each alternative. On one hand, the one pick will truly have me on the edge of my chair, in a sort of adrenalin rush overload, a sort of “I don’t know if he can fly the plane, but I do so love a bumpy, thrilling ride.” And, it always works out in the end. The other is a safer pick, because I feel almost a part of the family, as it were. Going in, I know already how it turns out in the end (boring), but I will be happier for all of us, even though I may well fall asleep. As is often the case, my wife and daughter will vote for one, my son and me, the other. We cancel each other out, a true American family.

But in the choice of Indiana Jones or Sex and the City, which movie to attend first???….I am going to see Harrison Ford first, not Sarah Jessica Parker. A guy has to do what a guy has to do….(I do reserve the right to change my mind, or have it changed for me.)

Note: our family friend and Hollywood stuntman, Mark Norby, does stunts in the Indiana Jones movie, yet another reason to attend it first.
