The first of a sporadic series of visits to JobDig’s markets with introductions to some local bloggers.

Pre-cinema, vaudeville was the entertainment venue of choice. It is where entertainers like George Burns, W.C. Fields and Bob Hope got their start—think dinner theater without bad chicken catchatorie. The vaudeville mecca was New York City’s Palace Theater; from there, shows would travel all across the U.S, but only after successfully answering the question: “Will it play in Peoria?” The question obviously highlights Peoria’s mainstream midwestern culture and demographics.

Peoria is a relatively new JobDig market. We are very proud to be there, serving employers and active and passive job seekers.

I have a list of bloggers I enjoy skimming (thank God for Evelyn Wood), and Peoria has a group of bloggers you should meet, greet and read from time to time. Few bloggers write only about JOBS or career matters, but I have noticed how often workplace issues seem to be part of almost all the content. I enjoy reading Bill Dennis at PeoriaPundit, and then I immediately go over to Randall Emert at PeoriaAntiPundit. I couldn’t pick up the backstory here, but that alone tells me it is all in good humor, no doubt. Jen Christensen is an anchor on WHOI-TV, a local celebrity when you see her with her kids at Naturally Yours Grocery. Jen blogs about managing her career and family at NewsAnchorMom. Katie’s Notes From the TrailerHood got me from the title–clever, Katie. B.J. Stone’s Good Year for the Outlaw is full of Peoria news, thoughts and insights as is Lollygaggin, Pammie Hazzard’s well written offering. Scott’s Blog Experience is a fun read, his blog is well done, and I just wish he would blog every day. Mike at Just a Thought actually has quite a few thoughts. PeoriaPeepers is anonymous unless his/her name is really “Jeep 2000,” and so is Mr. Blargen at blargen, a made up word that actually sounds like it should be one.

These are but a few of the local Peoria blogs I will keep checking. Are they the best in Peoria? Among the best, how’s that? We hope to start giving some space in JOBDIG to local bloggers—keep checking to find out who.
