Part of the fun of doing this is to read and share notes and ideas with people you would never, ever in a million years, meet. Before I started reading Dr. Ellen Weber’s blog Brain Based Business, I pretty much never thought about my own brain at all, except for those painful ten seconds when I would drink my grape Icy Slurpees too fast. But she is a great teacher and I have learned a lot by reading her. So, I asked her to write for my blog and my readers, as a sort of friendly gesture. Her guest blog follows:
What’s Cool About the JobDig Brain? by Dr. Ellen Weber
For the last couple of years now, I’ve been mining GL Hoffman’s blog for gems of creative intelligence. How so?
Here at What Would Dad Say … we learn transformational designs from GL’s creative shades, textures and angles about how people tap into … and work through … their unique mix of creative intelligences. One day you’ll ride missiles with GL … and on another … you’ll zip back in time … to laugh at the 1943 guide to hiring women. But in almost every blog – you’ll extract another precious stone to enrich your situation and work.
Where else can you find an e-book of 100 attributes of successful entrepreneurs? Know anybody else who’d toss creative comebacks for an unreasonable and insensitive boss into the ring? Or where else will you recognize your startup job in descriptions that suck … as GL puts it.
If you were to squeeze GL’s articles… the whole gamut … here at What Would Dad Say … into two words only …what would those words be…? Mine are … creative intelligence. Research shows 2 ways that creative brains like GL’s differ.
GL tends to step out of the place most of us stand in any given moment to check out creativity for its wider possibilities…. One way he does that is to ask compelling two-footed questions. Who else would think to ask if job descriptions or job callings makes you happier?
At GL’s site … creativity often comes with a swat in the head … and you’ll often find reasons to challenge your own leadership. “What do you see as an obstacle to creativity in your workplace … and how would GL tackle it?”
Oh… and since creative people tend to risk intelligences that carry them past the daily hurdles … here’s a good question to ask as you read GL’s blogs … “What solution brought you the best results for your efforts?”
For all these reasons GL’s blog could also be titled … Creativity and the Business Brain. It’s just that we’ve come to love and respect his own creative handle … What Would Dad Say – Frequently Wrong, Never in Doubt. Today Dr. Robyn McMaster best described the researched effects creative brainpower like GL’s … over at Brain Based Biz. I see GL simply … as a transformational leader with the brain in mind. Your turn!

Dang. She’s good!
She’s also right about you…
Thanks Conrad, and also for your inspiration over at Brain Based Business! GL has really started something here and the exchange draws in many fine leaders – through a language that cuts to the core — draws from intelligence in revolutionary ways — and offers solutions where problems truncated us all in past. Now that exchange is one for prosperity all around! How exhilarating too!
Love your image GL!!! makes me curious though? Do we get to decide which side of that desk most shows our business IQ?
The two words to describe GL’s brilliant posts they would be “Intuitive,” and “Down-to-earth.” GL gets right to the point and he often does it with humor, which keeps the brain hormone, sertonin flowing to readers’ brains as well as his own!
