I love Shaw's quote, and it is now more than just an aphorism or a statement of principle. I've been writing a lot lately on positive psychology, and I was fascinated to read that folks have discovered that circumstances account for just 10% of our sense of happiness and satisfaction with life. Approximately 50% of that sense comes from an internal "happiness" set point (for some it's naturally higher, for others lower), and the rest - the unbelievably huge 40% - is fully in our control. What science tells us now (following in the footsteps of great spiritual, literary and philosophical thinkers) is that we need to get off our buts and create the lives we want to live.

True dat... It's easy to agree with these principles, but living them is a completely different story.
