Every once in a while, you find a company that is into the smallest details of pleasing its customers. These are typically small things, surprising things that serve to delight customers. Most are unexpected.
Here at JobDig, we try to do this with all kinds of things,…fast turnaround on spec ads might be expected, but within 24 hours? Nearly free complete translations of your recruitment ads…again in 24 hours? Or how about recruitment ads on the radio for about $100? All things we do.
I recently stayed at a Four Seasons Hotel. Very expensive, I mean, really expensive. The thing I remember the most was the not the impeccable service or the beautiful sheets. I expected that.
What I did not expect was being served free ice cream sandwiches poolside at 3 pm every day. That was a surprise and totally unexpected.
What might seem like a little thing became a big thing to me.
What surprising small indulgences have you experienced as a customer recently?
(How about you Robert Hruzek?)

You have to bribe customers in order to give them feeling of importance.
I am not sure ‘bribing’ is the right word. I think you do have to give them what they expect plus a little bit extra.
I agree—-in my world we call it differentiation-although I hate to use the word-it simply means to stand out, and often times it can mean a sale.
I like these things, & I know they work.
Once I bought a coffee at a 5bucks wanna be and since I was the umteenth customer, mine was in a fancy travel mug.
I felt special—
You ARE special, Mike. These small indulgences are called by many names, my most favorite is customer delight, however.
Hmm, interesting idea. Now you’ve got me thinking about what equivalent of an ice-cream sandwich I can offer my customers and readers
