I am like the majority of drivers out there. I am pretty much clueless about road construction. But, that does NOT stop me from having an opinion about it. If you want another web-based, non-credible source about road construction, keep reading.
I do have two suggestions for the Road Construction department:
1. Please post a sign somewhere near the longer projects, those that will mess up traffic for longer than three days. This sign should tell us drivers what you are doing, and when it will be completed. I would even like to know how much it costs. Give me a project phone number on this sign too…so I can call from my car, with some “ideas” while they are fresh in my mind.
2. I think approval for Road Construction projects should have to go through one final person, who is immune to all the political pressures. His only job is to visit the site, right before the project starts, look around, and basically say “Are you freaking kidding me? Whose lameass idea was this? We don’t need to build this. Go fix some potholes.” If we had this guy, he would not have approved the project near my office, where they are building this multi-million pedestrian bridge over the highway where no one walks. Here is a prediction, instead of being a well-used walkway, it will become the most expensive skateboard park in St Louis Park.
