I forgot to tell you what happened after that venture conference. After my presentation, where I spoke mostly about one of our customers Qwest and their founder Phillip Anshutz, there was a cocktail reception. Entreprenuers mingling with the venture capitalists.

Lots—ok, several—venture guys came up to me and told me how much they liked my slightly off-normal presentation. I was feeling pretty full of myself.

And then, one of the other venture presenters, I remember his presentation–borrrrriinnnnng—came up to me and said, “Hey, about your presentation.”

I could tell this was going to be ugly.

“I have a bone to pick with you about it.” Ok, great. Now what?

“It was NOT Qwest who first discovered laying down fiber optic wire along railroad right aways. It was Williams Pipeline Company.” OMG, I thought. My next thought? This guy will NEVER get funded.

“Anyway, I thought you would like to know.”   As if.
