Back in the day, one would meet interesting people at cocktail parties. We would all stand around and schmooze, drink a little or a lot, and get to know everyone.
Some people were better at it than others, of course. These people were not shy, seemed to have a natural gift of gab ability and could remember jokes.
Blogging today is the new cocktail party because it allows us to meet and hear from so many different people. You can have a direct conversation with bloggers, by simply making a comment on their blog. Given how they always seem to respond to my comments, I am thinking blogging today is not unlike that first fax we received at the office— can you believe it came right through the telephone lines like that?…those days faxes got put on people’s chair, not in the in-box, they were THAT important. I think bloggers, typically, like to write, first, and probably to amuse themselves too…but there is this need to know if someone is reading them..and IF they react…well, that is a ‘win.’
And, as opposed to a real cocktail party, where it was slightly uncomfortable to go up to someone and start a conversation , meeting people via reading their blog, is completely risk-free.
Thanks to www.successful-blog.com for the idea.

Blogging is novel, and a good thinking tool, and a good way for shy people to meet new and faraway friends.
Mostly, it’s thrilling to receive comments!
Nicely put. Newbie bloggers who are not in the network are much like those attending cocktail parties not knowing anyone. If they are good enough, they could walk away knowing a great number of people. I guess the key to success is party more by interacting with bloggers out there.
