Q:  Vivian, any interviews yesterday?  You understand that job seeking is like having a fulltime job, so that is great.

A:  Yesterday I had time to look for a job. The weather was inclement. But the nonetheless, I percervered. I went to a couple of ladies shops that I really like. When I had finished the applications, they had liked what I said. So I had an immediate interview. Now here comes the astonishing part. At both shops, they told me to treat every customer as if they were a shop lifter! Never to trust them. They didn’t offer me a job because they could see the look on my face as they were telling me that.

Q:  That IS amazing.  I have always believed you can never mistreat or disrespect your customers.

A:  I could never treat a person like that. I would treat them like I would want to be treated, but not as a criminal. Which is basically what they were telling me. I know that shop lifting is very previlant, but to look at EVERY person that way? I just couldn’t. I know another thing, I’ll never shop at those shops again since I know that’s how they’re looking at me.  If I have to pay more for same thing somewhere else, so be it, but not at those places. My conscience just won’t allow it.

Anyone else run into something so ridiculous?

Q:  I am not so sure, this is an interesting question.  I wonder how other jobseekers handle the company that doesn’t measure up to our own given set of ethics?
