This applicant was very highly regarded and did well during the entire interview. I was close to recommending that she advance to the next round of interviews when she made a comment that cemented the deal.

What’s more,she said, “I will never ask for a raise.”

This comment obviously took me by surprise, so I asked why.

“I will work so hard for you and do so much more than you expect, that I know you will see that and provide as many future opportunities as you can inside the company for me. I won’t ever have to ask.”

The point is, she showed confidence in herself and was willing to demonstrate it.
