You don’t think your manager likes you?
Why is that? Did he ask you to do something extra and forgot to ask you nicely? Most managers today genuinely like the people who work for them. It is part of the interview process and you passed the big test. But, the thing is, bosses tend to like the people best who are working the best for them. People who work hard make their boss look better, the job gets done, everyone gets the smiley face. The opposite is true as well. If you are someone who is not moving the project, the task, or the company forward, don’t expect to be overly appreciated.
If you still feel like this, just ask. If at any time you feel like you are misunderstood or that you don’t understand why certain things happen, particularly as it relates to your career, just ask. But in asking, always assume the spirit of goodwill. Don’t spend a lot of time building up negative energy about it, bring it up with the appropriate people. As with everything, be polite and non-threatening, and always assume the spirit of goodwill.
