How would an Applicant Tracking System Help?

This morning I received an email from a colleague that contained the following conversation:

(8:34:07 AM) Deb: my email to the wi literary place was blocked by their spam filter
(8:34:21 AM) Deb: i called and told her about it
(8:34:25 AM) Deb: got voicemail
(8:34:56 AM) Deb: but i said i’ll fax it now but i wanted to make sure you know that’s happening and if you want me to resend i can certainly do that
(8:35:01 AM) Deb: think that was good?
(8:44:35 AM) Deb: riveting
(8:58:34 AM) Eric: i can’t believe your email got blocked by her spam filter – that’s crazy?!?
(8:58:43 AM) Deb: yep

I could have used this a few different ways in my post today, but thought it might be fun to see if any reader could share their thoughts on how an ATS could have helped out in this situation. I encourage anyone to step up, and let us know by submitting a comment.

On a separate note, this got me thinking about similar issues that are out there. If you have a story you would like to share about how an ATS could have been used to improve a candidate experience, reduce cost, eliminate admin burden, etc, please feel free to send it to me. Perhaps I can post something like this again or a least have a good laugh. Besides, I’m sure I’m not the only one that enjoys reading about folks choosing to do things the difficult way.
