According to Smoking Gun, lawyers for The Weather Channel (TWC), which is owned by Landmark Communications, which also owns the Employment Guide and a number of other media and publishing businesses, are “angling to keep secret the details of a blistering arbitration ruling in favor of a former anchorwoman who charges that she was subjected to unrelenting sexual harassment by her male co-anchor.” Landmark is in the process of trying to sell its portfolio of companies, including both the cable network and the Employment Guide, and they have publicly stated that they are seeking $5 billion for the Weather Channel. The details of the arbitration case are unbelievable, both those concerning anchorman Bob Stokes’ atrocious behavior and the horrendous way in which TWC responded. It’s absolutely appalling, and I hope they get obliterated for what happened.
